Case study: Fashion Editorial – Holland Cooper

Every fashion shoot is different whether it’s a look book, an editorial or a straight forward ecommerce Website shoot but the principles are always the same. The best way to start any project is with a pre-production meeting to establish with the client what garments they want to showcase and whether there is a theme. When we shot this editorial featuring lux country living brands; Holland Cooper & Fairfax & Favour.

The main aim was to drive traffic to these brands in time for the coveted Cheltenham Race Week and to create engaging content that could be used all Year round on their websites & social media. We wanted the shoot to have a luxury look book feel to make it easy for potential race-goers and customers to access entire outfits so we sourced appropriate props and backdrop to compliment each look. In order to give the shoot the wow factor, the shoot needed something extra so through various meetings / design sketches and brainstorming, we created the “golden thunder” ultimate hair-do, making a horse entirely out of hair, attached to the models own hair creating a totally unique and page stopping look.

Every successful shoot also requires a detailed shoot schedule and what we like to do is to have already thought of the kind of poses or looks we are trying to capture within each frame to maximise our time and to ensure we are always on the same page with our clients. Finally, you need a great team around you and we have been working with our stylists, set designers and hair & make-up artists for years developing great working relationships that ensure the clients brief is translated across all aspects of the brief with good working synergy and it makes the shoot damn good fun too.
