I don’t think I’m alone when I say that we’ve all look at models in glossy magazines and imagined their roles to be quite straightforward and glamorous when often the reality is something completely different!
A few months ago I undertook this “Style Icon” shoot with professional hair & make-up artist, Monika Vrublova, to explore the reality of how challenging the world of modelling really is.
Despite all my years experience of shooting models, not being one myself, I was sceptical that we could make it look good and that I could “pull-off” an effective “Audrey Hepburn” – after all, I’m used to leaving that to the professionals! But the point of this experiment was to explore just this so I threw myself at the mercy of Monika’s make-up brush and set my kit up to shoot myself (I felt it was important to see both sides of the process simultaneously).
I was not prepared for how expertly she transformed me into this silver screen legend which helped enormously with getting into character. As I said before, I am NOT a model and don’t profess to being one, but I think you’ll agree that the results are quite incredible, reinforcing the notion that a great team can create something truly quite amazing.
We have been lucky enough to have our shoot featured by Professional Photographer magazine, and with Audrey Hepburn’s birthday yesterday, I thought it timely to share the full story & images with you, please click HERE to read all about it.
